I love to hear the sheep bleating in the green fields around us and see the cows back out in the fields. Mr (or Mrs) blackbird serenade us both morning and night, and the garden birds are busy feeding their young. We have tiny wild strawberries in the wall around our patio at home and today I watched a Robin flying back and forth, harvesting them to take them back to the nest.
With so much to see and do, it’s time to get out and make the most of the longer days. Blessed with warm sunshine and blue skies last month we couldn’t resist setting off for some lovely outings to enjoy the stunning coastline right on our doorstep.
Just a short drive away, we left the car at Hartland Quay and headed off on the coast path towards Speke’s Mill Mouth waterfall. The rock formations along the cliff edge are a geologist’s dream!
Heading inland, we visited Docton Mill and enjoyed a really lovely walk around the gardens, and couldn’t resist ending our visit with a delicious cream tea, known locally as one of the best in the area.
Drives across Dartmoor or over to Exmoor are another favourite way to spend an afternoon. Exploring the tiny Devon villages and ending with a meal in a pub garden.
Whatever we choose to do, there’s nowhere else we’d rather be, than Heaven in Devon!
