Sylvie’s North Devon holiday cottage is a traditional, cosy Devon cottage in a rural setting on the edge of Woolsery village.
The cottage is perfect for couples snuggling up together or for families visiting beaches and local attractions. Take a look at the testimonials of our many happy visitors. It is within walking distance of Mad Hatters Restaurant just around the corner at Merry Harriers Garden Centre. Here you will find great food with FREE ENTRY to the famous Gnome Reserve!
Sylvie’s Cottage is perfect for summer holidays and winter breaks alike. In the summer months, you can enjoy a barbecue in the sun-filled garden. In the winter months enjoy snuggling up in front of the cosy wood burner.
About the area
As Wikipedia states, the name of the village is a local curiosity, as its pronunciation (and occasional spelling) differs from what one might expect. When travelling you may see road signs marked as Woolsery alongside the original full name of Woolfardisworthy.
The full name of Woolfardisworthy has one of the longest place names in England, with 16 letters!
Woolsery village itself is home to the much sought-after Farmers Arms. This is a traditional Devon destination/gastro pub, boasting ‘plot to plate’ eating and locally sourced beers. A 5-minute car drive away is the Milky Way Adventure Park, perfect for family entertainment and the North Devon Wake Park.
Add another 5 minutes in the car and you will find the fabulously enchanting fishing village of Clovelly. Discover cobbled streets (no cars allowed) and quaint cottages built into the cliffside.
Perfectly placed within reach of the A39 Atlantic Highway you will find easy access to Hartland Quay, the beach at Bucks Mills, the South West Coast Path, RHS Rosemoor, Croyde and Bude for surfing and the Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks for walking.
Woolsery is situated just a short distance from the North Devon coast and is a designated Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. The village is also within both the North Devon World Surfing Reserve and the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere. The area is an important meeting place of rich natural and cultural heritage in a stunning, diverse landscape.

They take pride in ensuring guests achieve the best holiday experience depending on their individual interests. They are both more than happy to share their wealth of local knowledge of the area with visitors when the opportunity arises.
Upon arrival you will find the cottage is spotlessly clean with a warm welcome feel from the moment you enter. The little extras will be taken care of to suit the individual needs of guests. This could be setting up the travel cot, highchair and stair gate for tinies, preparations for a family celebration or providing specific information for sporting activities in the area.
From the first point of booking, Sylvie and Chris will be available to help you complete your preparations before leaving home. This ensures you have maximum time for fun and adventure while here in Devon! They live nearby and hope to meet you at some point and will be available by phone should you have any questions during your stay.
The added bonus of staying at Sylvie’s Cottage is that no pets are allowed thereby being allergy-free and no finding dog hairs in the carpets!
