The days might be shorter but we are sometimes blessed with some really glorious Autumn days, with warm sunshine and blue skies.

As the vibrant autumn hues begin to paint the landscape, we venture out to explore the coast and countryside around us.

I’ve just returned from Clovelly harbour where I sat in the warm sunshine, read 2 chapters of my book and couldn’t resist popping into the Tea Shop on the cobbles for a fresh crab sandwich.

Further afield, Exmoor, Dartmoor, sections of the South West Coast Path, and of course the stunning coastline from Lynton all the way down to Tintagel, are all within easy reach.

We enjoy long woodland walks amidst the red, orange and yellow leaves and scenic drives to charming Devon villages nestled deep in the countryside.

Returning home with a wealth of knowledge to recommend to our guests, we pour over our maps with a glass of wine and light the wood burner if the evening turns chilly.

Before we know it, December will have arrived when a whole month of Christmas events begin to appear. From Christmas Markets, Brass Band Concerts and of course our magical candlelit Carol Service in the beautiful church of All Saint’s, where the donkeys are blessed and the mulled wine served.
